I was a Skype customer until today. By the way I used to be an Ebay customer until today too. These two combined with Paypal make an unholy Trinity. It is now more & more difficult to make payments to Ebay and Skypw without having a credit card linked to your Paypal account. I have had a Paypal account since 2002, it is linked to checking account, this is no longer good enough. I used to have a Paypal credit card, issued by WaMu bank. However WaMu is one of our banker friends that messed up the economy and were swallowed by Chase. Perhapse this is why they are making things difficult for me.
I might link a credit card to the account if they did not charge my credit card but I have no guarantee they will not do this.
